A delegation of the Ludhiana small scale industry on Friday met Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh to extend their support to the party in the interest of industrial revival in the state once it forms the government.Captain Amarinder assured them that the Congress was committed to reviving the state’s industry, which had been brought to its knees by the Badal government’s ill-conceived policies followed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation move. The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president said the party’s manifesto had a detailed programme for industrial revival in the state, which he would implement immediately on assuming power in the state. Besides announcement of a new industrial policy within 90 days of government formation, the party manifesto lists down several initiatives to bring the small scale industry in the state back on the growth track, said Captain Amarinder.

The delegation thanked the PPCC president for the party’s support to industry in the past and expressed the optimism that the small scale industry, in particular, would be restored to its earlier status, which it had enjoyed before the Badal-led SAD took over the reins of the state in alliance with BJP.The industry delegation narrated their woes to Captain Amarinder, saying their very survival had been put at stake by the SAD-BJP combine, which had sidelined the small scale industry completely and had, in fact, reversed several of the important industrial development initiatives taken by the previous Congress regime.Captain Amarinder reiterated that the revival of the industry in Punjab was high on his agenda and he would take it up on priority so that the problems being faced by them are addressed without further delay and the state is once again restored to its industrial leadership position in the country.Photo-Caption: Members of a delegation of the Ludhiana small scale industry with Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh in Chandigarh
