AAP demands from EC to transfer Punjab DGP due to his complicity with ruling party

Accuses DGP Suresh Arora of promoting political interests of Sukhbir Singh Badal

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today demanded immediate transfer of Punjab DGP Suresh Arora and accused him of complicity with Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal in promoting his political interests.AAP state convener Gurpreet Singh Waraich and Human right wing Chief, Adv. Navkiran Singh has demanded from Election Commission of India to transfer DGP without further delay for free and fair elections in Punjab. Waraich said that Suresh Arora who was recently divested of his charge of Chief Director Vigilance would influence the election process if allowed to continue on his post. “His continuation as head of Police force would defeat the whole purpose of Election Commission”, he commented.Alleging that Suresh Arora is working more of an Akali Dal worker, Waraich said that DGP Arora had taken no action in the cases of sacrilege of Holy Scriptures, killing of two persons in police firing in Behbal Kalan and rather reinstated the SSP Moga Charanjit Singh responsible for the firing. The sacrilege incidents were handiwork of ruling party to disturb the communal harmony for political gains, AAP leader asserted.Navkiran said that DGP had also found to find any clue into the political murder of RSS leader Jagdish Gagneja. 

He did help to cover up the murders of Mata Chand Kaur and a Shiv Sena leader of Khanna.He said that it was shocking that police had failed to trace the scripture of holy Guru Grnath Sahib which had gone missing from Bargari. He said that Sukhbir Badal had hidden motives behind political murders and sacrilege of Guru Grnath Sahib at Bargari.Waraich also accused Suresh Arora for facilitating escape of five gangsters from Nabha high security jail at the behest of Sukhbir Badal. He said that even after two months there is no trace of gangsters who are given shelter by ruling party leaders to sue them against political rivals.AAP leader also accused DGP for sending a panel of biased officers to Election Commission with the aim to help SAD to return to power. He said that Amar Singh Chahal who is favourite of Sukhbir Badal was recommended for posting as Inspector General. Chahal enjoyed plum posts during the ten year rule of SAD-BJP government and remained SSP of Ludhiana rural, Fazilka, DCP Amritsar and Jalandhar, DIG Bathinda, Ferozepur and Patiala ranges and Commissioner of Police Amritsar.

Navkiran said that Arora was not only serving his political masters in the SAD-BJP government but also instrumental in clearing the charges of corruption against PPCC president Capt Amarinder Singh at the behest of Sukhbir Badal. Arora had submitted plea in the trial court for cancellation of Vigilance charge sheet against Captain Amarinder Singh. “Both Sukhbir Badal and Capt Amarinder Singh are hand in glove and using the DGP for mutual benefits”, AAP leader alleged.AAP leader said that Arora had facilitated Sukhbir Badal at police functions held a month before the elections and allowed the letter to hand over allotment letters to new recruits, promotion letters to hundreds of policemen. “Arora also illegally recruited nine sports persons as DSP, 22 constables in intelligence wing all residents of Jalalabad and gave adhioc promotions to policemen just 15 days before model code of conduct.

Waraich stated that Arora managed ‘clean chit’ for Personal Assistant of Animal Husbandry minister Gulzar Singh Ranike in development fund scam through SSP Vigilance Opinderjit Singh Ghuman who was rewards with post of SSP Barnala and later SSP Ludhiana(rural).AAP convener said that in violation of all rules and regulations, Arora has provided more than 1000 police personnel as security guards and domestic helps to Baal family and Bikram Majithia, revenue minister of Punjab.  DGP is leaving no opportunity to appease his political masters, Waraich added.Navkiran also demanded withdrawal of security to the political office bearers of the ruiling Akali-BJP alliance as well as surrender of arms by general public during the Assembly election process of Punjab.He said that the ruiling Akali- BJP alliance has provided on a large scale Punjab armed guards to its office bearers who are using the security to create a fear psychosis in Punjab.
