The 8-day long Vijay Sankalp Rath Yatra of the Punjab BJP today concluded in Amritsar. State party president, Vijay Sampla and the State party leadership paid obeisance at Shri Harmandir Sahib, marking the culmination of the Yatra. Earlier in the day, the Vijay Sankalp Rath Yatra was accorded a grand welcome in Dinanagar, Brahmpura, Gurdaspur and Batala as the party leaders aboard the Rath were showered upon with flowers. Raising slogans, hundreds of enthusiastic party workers and supporters escorted the Rath as the cavalcade marched towards Amritsar.Addressing a mammoth public gathering in Amritsar, Union Finance Minsiter Arun Jaitley congratulated state party chief, Vijay Sampla for completing the Yatra adding that the actual Yatra towards attaining a historic victory had now begun.  Recalling the Punjab’s history during the last 30 years, Jaitley said, “Terrorism raised its ugly head during the 80’s and only the Congress was responsible for it. The state’s public was made to suffer for 10-12 years, thousands were killed and living a normal life had become impossible. In 1984 Congress fought elections on the plank of communalism. It made people of Punjab fight against each other. After terrorism came to an end in the state, Akali-BJP government was formed under the leadership of Sardar Prakash Singh Badal. We had forged a social alliance, not a political one.  At that time we worked towards healing the wounds of the people, brought back normalcy in the state. When Congress followed next, communal harmony and peace were already established.

The Congress got it readymade but failed to achieve anything remarkable. During its 5 years of rule, it only indulged in political vendetta and Capt. Amarinder Singh even put Sardar Badal behind the bars. Capt. Amrinder then claimed that Sardar Badal had amassed huge assets, but was unable to prove it. Instead, his name cropped up in foreign accounts.  In 2007 when our coalition government was formed again, Sardar Badal forgot all what he was made to go through and instead honestly focused on development. The state progressed in each and every sector and all the sections of the society were passed on the benefits of development.  During the last almost 3 years of the NDA regime at the Centre, Punjab has received AIIMS, IIM, IIT and dozens of central educational institutions. Punjab has got a makeover with developed villages and cities and a dense network of highways. Amritsar has been chosen as smart city. I have been around the world but have never seen such a city. The facelift which the state government has provided to Amritsar is extremely breathtaking. Elections are taking place in such an environment where development is all over”.Listing out NDA government’s achievements, Jaitley said that PM Modi’s decisions had made the country proud. “By conducting surgical strikes across the LoC, PM Modi did what the previous governments had failed to do”, he said, adding, “We carried out an attack on 70 years of corruption”. Exhorting party cadres to energetically work towards the formation of an Akali-BJP coalition government for the third consecutive time, Jaitley exuded confidence that the BJP will win every seat it contests.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister and Punjab party affairs incharge, Narendra Tomar also expressed his delight over the development which has taken place in the state. Tomar said that the party would go amongst the masses with the plank of development. Since the formation of Modi government at the Centre, the nation is advancing and is changing, he said. “Schemes have not only been rolled out for the poor, women, youth but they are also being actively implemented. Under PM Modi’s leadership, the economic condition of the poor has improved. The upcoming union budget will take care of the poor, farmers and villagers”, he said.Slamming the Congresss, Tomar said, “Congress today has been wiped out across the country. It is unable to contest polls on its own in UP. Capt. Amarinder Singh was only seen during oath taking ceremony in the Lok Sabha. Since then, nobody, not even his party members have seen him in the House. One who can’t even represent his constituency in the Parliament, how can he run Punjab?” Taking on Arvind Kejriwal, Tomar asked the party workers to ensure that the security of all AAP candidates is forfeited.  “Kejriwal’s magic has come to an end. He fooled the people of Delhi and shattered their dreams. He set new lower standards in politics. The people of Punjab won’t fall into his trap.” Tomar asked party worker to work hard and ensure a thumping victory of the Akali-BJP coalition.

Meanwhile, addressing the public and party workers, Punjab BJP president, Vijay Sampla thanked the people for their humungous support. Sampla also praised the party workers, especially the Yuva Morcha for making the Vijay Sankalp Rath Yatra a huge success. “I salute the party workers and supporters for battling extreme weather and stand beside us. The heavy rains did not deter them from joining and supporting us.  The main objective of the Vijay Sankalp Yatra was to ensure that party workers and leaders make a firm resolve to bring the coalition back into power and given the support we have received through the course of the Yatra, I am confident that we are ready to score a Hat-trick this time”.Coming down heavily on PPCC chief Capt. Amarinder Singh, Sampla said, “Capt. Amarinder Singh has no concern for the people of Punjab. He has no time for the people of the state but for the last one month he is busy relishing the company of his Pakistani friend”.  Taking a dig at Aam Aadmi Party, Sampla said that there was huge difference between doing and saying of AAP. “When we talked about opening rehab and de-addiction centers, we were mocked by him. Now he has opened separate liquor vends for women in Delhi. We tried to get rid of drugs; he is trying to bring them back.

Leave aside fulfilling poll promises he made to the people of Delhi; he did not even start paper work on them. AAP is the mother of all corruption. His partymen have exposed him. Capt. Amarinder is also like him. The only difference is that he neither says nor he does anything. People of Punjab should keep such people away from the state”.addressing the gathering BJP National Vice President and Punjab BJP Poll incharge, Prabhat Jha said that the Huge turnout of people during the yatra was a stamp of approval on the developmental works carried out by the Akali-BJP Coalition government, Jha Said, "this enormous support reflects that people are really happy over the development in the state and want the coalition to be power for yet another time".Led by Vjiay Sampla, the Vijay Sankalp Rath Yatra had embarked on an 8-day long journey on December 29 from Hussainiwala. During its course the Rath traversed through the 23 assembly constituencies which the BJP contests from and received a humungous support from party workers and supporters.
