‘Pride of Paradise’,JK Bank unveils 2017 calendar

Jammu Kashmir Bank Saturday unveiled its 2017 Calendar dedicated to the talented youth of the State. The Calendar titled ‘Pride of Paradise’ carries the photographs of 12 top talented people who by their performances in different fields have brought laurels to the State.The Calendar was unveiled at a function here at Corporate Office of the Bank in presence of incumbent Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu, JK Bank Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Parvez Ahmed, Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi and academician Professor Abdul Wahid Siddique.Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Jammu Kashmir Bank according to news agency CNS said that young generation that is the pride of the State needs attention. “The achievements of the toppers depicted in this calendar is aimed at their encouragement. There is no dearth of talent is Jammu and Kashmir and those who did not made it to the Calendar page should not lose hope and they must keep on striving,” he said.He said that the Bank has always been playing a key role in promoting and nurturing the talent of Jammu and Kashmir and “in this backdrop we themed this year’s wall calendar- ‘Pride of Paradise’.The task to select the cream was laborious and Expert Committee did good to choose the talented ones,” he said. Lauding the role of JK Bank for its initiatives to encourage the budding youth of the State, Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu who was the Chief Guest said there is dire need discover the talent in the State and Jammu Kashmir Bank can do it. 

He said that it is not a Calendar but a social intervention. “JK Bank has always showcased the talent, history, beauty, heritage and other aspects of the State. Through its calendar this Bank is able to communicate to people,” he said and laid stress on the Bank authorities to work hard for the betterment of the Bank and the people in general.Some of the achievers who has made it to the Calendar page also shared their experiences while Professor Khurshid Iqbal and Professor Abdul Wahid Siddique also spoke on the occasion.Those who have made it to the Jammu Kashmir Bank Calendar page this year included Kick Boxer Tajamul Islam (Gold Medal at World Kickboxing championship), leading researcher Dr Rouf Bandey (exploring avenues to prevent cancer), Santoor Maestro Abhay Sopori (international renowned singer and composer) Karate Kid Hashim Mansoor (Gold in Asian Youth Karate Championship), Global Innovator Sonam Wangchuk (Rolex Award for Enterprise 2016), Cyclist Akbar Khan (First Kashmiri Cyclist to represent India), prolific artist Insha Manzoor (Engaging with the Processes of Self-Identity) uniquely abled painter Sanjay Saraf (globally recognized for canvas paintings), specially abled skater Chandeep Singh (Bronze medal at National Skating Championship), mountaineer Ranveer Jamwal (conquered over 20 peaks), expert marksman Chain Singh (J&K’s first Olympian) and IAS topper Dr Shah Faesal (icon for civil services aspirants).
