Asks officers to build advanced infrastructure for development of animal husbandry

Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Gani Kohli has underscored the need for retrieval of the encroached land of the Department for the optimum use of animal and sheep husbandry activities in the State.He asked the concerned officers to take immediate steps for retrieving the departmental land which has been encroached in various areas in the State.These directions were given by the Minister while reviewing the functioning of the Animal, Sheep Husbandry Department at an officers meeting here today.Laying stress on creation of a land bank of the Department, the Minister said the department has a large chunk of land which needs to be utilized in well for overall development of high quality cattle and sheep to suffice the maximum needs of milk, mutton and poultry in the State.The meeting was informed that Animal husbandry department has 1480 kanals of land while as Sheep husbandry also possesses 1400 kanals of land at Lam in Nowshera, out of which some land was encroached and needs to be retrieved immediately.

The Minister instructed the concerned officers to take-up the issue of encroached land at Lam and other areas with revenue and other concerned departments at the earliest so that the eviction process is started at the earliest. “The retrieved land should be used for promotion and development of quality cattle and sheep”, the Minister directed the officers.The meeting was further informed that the department has a proposal to setup a cattle farm, feed mill besides other modern infrastructure for development of cattle and sheep at Chattha and for the purpose 680 kanals of land have been already identified. The meeting was also told that 144 kanals of land have been identified at Nagrota for establishment of high-tech poultry farm.The Minister asked the officers to take the requisite steps for setting up of the required infrastructure and also directed them to shift the poultry hatchery besides other infrastructure after creating departmental assets at Nagrota and Chatta. He directed the concerned to initiate the early measures for completing the under-construction projects well in time.
