Sham Chaudhary asks children to spread message of water conservation

Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Chaudhary, today called upon children to become torchbearers of change in the society and put their best efforts in spreading the message of saving water among the people.The Minister said this while addressing the gathering at a painting competition being organized by Big 92.7 FM on the theme ‘Save Water’ at Wave Mall, Jammu.Stressing on the need for water conservation, the Minister said that it is the duty of every individual to play his role in saving this scarce natural resource for future generations.He exhorted upon people to start inculcating habits of using less water and ensure that the taps are properly closed, as the initiatives for the betterment of society should start from home. He asked them to refrain from throwing garbage in the water bodies and plants trees along the canals, if possible.He also asked the children and adults to participate in the ‘Big Jammu Run- Run to Save Water’ initiative.

Pertinent to mention that ‘Big Jammu Run - Run to Save Water’ is an initiative of the Communication and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU), Department of PHE, I&FC and Big 92.7 FM, which would be organized at Gulshan Ground, Jammu on January 8, 2017. The Minister also distributed prizes among the winners of the painting competition. In junior category Yashika Rajpoot, Adhyan Atri and Vedhant from JK Public School managed to secure first, second and third spots respectively while in senior category, Shahzad Abdullah from Army Public School Satwari Cantt, Nischint Singh from Tiny Tots Higher Secondary School and Gorochana Salaria from Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2 won the first, second and third prizes respectively.Executive Director CCDU Rajiv Malhotra was present in the programme.Meanwhile, the Minister also distributed blankets and shawls among the poor and needy people in a function organized to observe Good Governance Day on the 93rd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Mulla Chak in Suchetgarh.The Minister said that our commitment is to provide good governance to the people of the state and best possible efforts are being made to ensure availability of all basic amenities to the people at their doorsteps.He called upon people to come forward and take maximum benefit of state and centrally sponsored schemes including Ladli Beti, AASRA, State Marriage Assistance Scheme and other financial assistance schemes.
