Attends Christmas day celebrations, launches construction works

To mark the celebration of “Good Governance Day” and birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga today visited Pakhri at Vijaypur and distributed blankets among the poor people.During the visit, the Minister was accompanied by the officers of district administration.While addressing the gathering, the Minister said that providing good governance to the people in most transparent and accountable manner is the priority of the present government, adding that, reforms have been initiated in all vital sectors including Health, Education, R&B and stress is being laid on ensuring equitable development.The Minister also remembered Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his contribution towards nation building. He described Vajpayee as one of India’s most charismatic leaders and a great statesman.The Minister further said that government is committed to provide uninterrupted electricity to all the villages of the state and many initiatives have been taken up to streamline the electricity supply. He also said that government is upgrading sports infrastructure at block levels so that youth of the rural areas vigorously participate in the sports activities. Maintaining that industry is one of the major sectors where a large number of people can get absorbed to earn their livelihood, the Minister said that the Industries and Commerce department is making efforts to generate employment opportunities for unemployed youth.

Ganga said that the establishment of leading manufacturing units of India in J&K will immensely boost State’s economy and investments by big houses in the State would open new job avenues for the youth adding that Government is focusing on the skill development of youth to make them capable according to the requirements of industry.Later, the Minister laid foundation stone of Community Sanitary Complex at Teli Basti, in block Bari Brahmana. The construction work of the complex would be executed by Department of Rural Development at an estimated of Rs. 1.80 lakhs.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the complex is being constructed as part of the National Swachh Bharat Mission launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and added that arrangements are being made to promote hygienic toilets in the area.Meanwhile, the Minister celebrated Christmas Day at Teli Basti in Bari Brahmana organized by Christian Welfare Association.While addressing the gathering, the Minister said that this festival strengthens the values of compassion, mutual brotherhood among the people besides infusing empathy and love towards mankind.The Minister asked the people to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ towards love, peace and harmony. His teachings should not only be followed but should be made a way of human life. He hoped that the occasion would be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity for the state.
