Punjab Revenue & Public Relations Minister Bikram Singh Majithia today said that SAD-BJP combine believe in delivering what promised, whereas Congress and AAP were limited to make false promises only . He said that the ruling alliance will contest ensuing Vidhan Sabha elections on the sole agenda of development. He said that the present government has created a world class infrastructure in the state by making it power surplus, ensuring best road and air connectivity besides setting up of state of art institutions.Earlier, Mr. Majithia inaugurated a State-of-Art Press Club here and presented it as a New Year gift to the Amritsar Media fraternity. This club was constructed at the cost of 2.50 crore by the Punjab Government on the prime land in new Amritsar. Mr. Majithia said that newly constructed press club building was especially designed keeping in view the modern day requirements and to ensure all facilities for media persons. He also announced the setting up of modern press room equipped with computers to facilitate media to operate even from press club.   He urged Media persons to collectively work for making this new facility as country’s best press club and assured every possible help from the state government. He also announced to provide Computers and GYM to the Amritsar Press Club.

Mr. Majithia directed the Deputy Commissioner Amritsar to conduct a transparent election of Press Club Management committee within three week so that this Press Club should be made fully functional under the direct control of the Media fraternity. He thanked the Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister for realizing the dream of setting up of a Press Club at Amritsar. He said that after some time the newly setup press club will become a central point as Amritsar being a World famous tourist destination due to its religious and historical importance attracts numerous dignitaries .This will provide them an ideal space to interact with the media to convey their message. He said that the recent successful conduct of an International Conference titled “Heart of Asia” presided by the Prime Minster of India and attended by many International dignitaries including President of Afghanistan and this had became possible only due to overall world class infrastructure created by SAD-BJP government in the Holy city. He said that right from an International Airport, world class road infrastructure, creation of heritage walk street, Golden Temple plaza, War Memorial, heritage village and a Unique huge Entry gate of the city besides restoration of famous Gobindgarh Fort. 

Mr. Majithia pointed out that SAD-BJP Government was fully committed for the welfare of Media fraternity and introduced a unique free Insurance Scheme for the Journalists. He said that earlier there was no provision for any Insurance or Compensation Scheme for the media persons but the SAD-BJP Government took lead in introducing this noble scheme to support the media fraternity in need. He said more than 4000 media persons across the state are covered under the insurance scheme and its premium was being paid by the Punjab Government. He said that the significant increase in the free bus travel facility for the working journalists was under consideration of state government. He said that the state government has already increased the quota of government house accommodation for journalists in Chandigarh. He said that Punjab Government has already approved the proposal of setting up of more Press Club will be set up in the state.  

Later interacting with media Mr. Majithia took both Congress and AAP to the task by exposing their Anti Punjab stand on various crucial issues of SYL and regularization of 27 thousand employees etc. He said that both Captain Amarinder and Arvind Kejriwal were already exposed before the people for non fulfillment of their promises in their tenures.  Describing Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu as an opportunist, Mr. Majithia quipped that it seems a lucrative deal has been sealed between by him with the Congress.On this occasion, senior Journalists of Amritsar Mr. Shami Shareen, Mr. Deepak Sharma, Mr. Jaswant Singh Jass, Mr. Jasbir Singh Patti, Mr. Jagmohan Singh, Mr. Rajesh Gill and Mr. Sanjeev Punj thanked Mr. Majithia for setting up of ultra Modren Press Club thereby fulfilling a long pending demand of Media fraternity.
