Priya Sethi flags off educational tour for girls

Minister of State for Education, Culture, Tourism, Floriculture and Parks, Priya Sethi today flagged off a group of 30 girls and 4 teachers on a Educational trip to Delhi, Chandigarh and Agra for 7 days.Interacting with the girl students, the Minister said that the government is steadfast on its resolve to give boost to the education sector in the state and girl education is getting focused attention. She called upon the students to take maximum benefit from the initiatives taken in the sector and encourage them to interact with people of other states during the tour so as to learn about different cultures of the country."Education has to go beyond bookish knowledge and study tours and interactive learning helps in overall personality development", she added.The group comprises of five girls from GGHSS, Mubarak Mandi, six from GGHSS, Canal Road, four from GGHSS, Bazar Qasaban, five from GHSS, Bhalwal, from from GHSS, Satwari, two from GHSS, Jourian & one each from GHSS, Bishnah, GHS, Chowadhi and GHSS, Rehal.

These girl students were selected on the basis of their outstanding performance in a district level 'Display Your Talent' festival held from 21.11.2016 to 24.11.2016 at Police Auditorium, K.L. Sehgal Hall and GGHSS, Canal Road. The events in the said festival included Rangoli, Elocution, Painting, Classical Vocal Solo, Light Vocal Solo, Poetry Recitation, Essay Writing, Debate and Spelling Competition whereas in Group Category, the events included Group Song, Quiz, Group Dance, Folk Dance and Skit. The trip has been organized under the Beti-Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme.The CRPF and Indian Army have also extended their cooperation in terms of logistics and transport.The girls have been given special training on the use of debit card on POS machines.Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Simrandeep Singh, ADDC Anuradha Gupta, Commandant 160 Bn CRPF Surender Mehra, District Social Welfare Officer Vipin Bhagat and concerned senior officers were present on the occasion.
