International Forum for Justice and Human Rights (IFJHR) Tuesday staged protest against the human rights violation in the state. The protesters headed by the forum chairman Muhammad Ahsan Untoo along with scores of activists assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave and chanted slogans. They were holding the banner displaying the pictures of pellet victims and ‘Is this Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao?’.The protesters told KNS that the demonstration has been organised to awaken the world coconscious and draw their attention towards the atrocities committed by Indian forces.“The use of pellet and bullet as state policy was highly condemnable and the effects of these deadly weapons against the hapless people of Kashmir are disastrous and unthinkable,” Untoo said.He said that scores of young boys and girls lost their vision while thousands were disabled and some people received fatal injuries as well.Untoo further appealed international community to use their good offices and take effective measures to stop forces from using these lethal weapons.

“Students are arrested from colleges and universities and have been put behind bars thus making their future uncertain,” he said.Untoo said that the last five months were very testing times for Kashmiris as the people here witnessed the worst kind of human rights abuses. “The magnitude of atrocities was such that history will perhaps never witness these again,” he said, adding that the slogan of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ by the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti felt ill on the ground. He said that the forces working under her command has made these girls (betis) blind now they cannot see the world and the tall claims of Pro-Indian politicians stands hallow and meaningless. He later appealed United Nations (UN) to take effective measures for the ban on pellet guns and the rehabilitation of those who fell victims to these lethal weapons. The protesters also appealed UNs to use their good offices to ensure the release of thousands of innocent children who are languishing in jails.
