Bali Bhagat pitches for public-private partnership to augment healthcare facilities in JK

Renowned IVF expert Dr Gauri Agarwal deliberates on issues related to infertility

To deliberate and discuss the issues related to the infertility, the Seeds of Innocence (SOI) IVF and Test Tube Baby Hospital, New Delhi in association with Max Life Hospital, Jammu organized a workshop here on Saturday evening.The objective of organizing the CME workshop was to update the knowledge of budding doctors on the advancements being made in the field of medicine to deal with the issues of infertility among males and females which is a growing problem and a matter of concern in the society.Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat was chief guest on the occasion.Dr Gauri Agarwal, a renowned IVF expert and Director SOI deliberated in length on the subject and enlightened the local gynecologists about the advancements to eradicate the problem of infertility. She shared her views and experiences with the doctors on basic investigations for infertile couples.  In his brief remarks, the Minister appreciated the efforts of the organizers for holding such an informative event in Jammu and hoped that the local doctors will take advantage of the opportunity, which will help them in handling such patients successfully. 

He observed that the issue has greater significance in view of its far-reaching implications in the society and it needs to be dealt with all sincerity and dedication. He called for a greater awareness campaign to educate such patients so that they voluntarily come forward for treatment.He thanked Dr Gauri and Dr Dushyant Choudhary, Director, Max Life Hospital for taking lead in establishing OPD facilities for such patients in Max Hospital here. He also lauded the role of private sector in the health sector and said that private players are doing great job in supplementing government efforts in providing healthcare. He said it is the endeavor of the Government to promote private sector in Jammu and Kashmir in PPP mode, particularly in health, education and other key sectors, adding that private players should liberally invest here for which the Government will extend necessary facilities.Several in-service and retired doctors from faculty of Gynae including, Dr. Shashi Gupta, HoD, GMC, CMO, Jammu, Dr. Robinder Khajuria, Dr. Robina Mirza were present on the occasion.
