Asiea Naqash asks officials to work for welfare of weaker sections of society

Minister of State for Social Welfare, Health & Medical Education, Asiea Naqash, today stressed on the officials to ensure that weaker and vulnerable sections of the society get their due share of benefits by proper utilization of various Government sponsored schemes and welfare measures.The Minister said this during an extensive tour of Srinagar city during which she inspected functioning of child care centres and health institutions in the city.She visited Markaz-e-Falahi Atfal (Bal Ashram) and Markaz-e-Falahi Mastoorat, Shalimar which currently hosts 50 boys and 22 girls respectively. The Minister interacted with the children enrolled at these centres and enquired about the facilities being provided to them.While reviewing the facilities at these centres, the Minister was briefed that Rs 16 lakh have already been released for Markazi Falahi Mastoorat which is being spent on education, living and other facilities at the centre.  The Minister announced winter clothing, sports kits, story books and other facilities for the girls.

Asiea also visited the Government Juvenile Home in Harwan, where she directed the officials to construct boundary wall around the juvenile centre. She gave on the spot directions to provide sports items to the children lodged at the facility and asked the officials to ensure that the underage detainees return home as reformed persons. The Minister was accompanied by Director Social Welfare, District Social Welfare officer and other concerned officers.Later, the MoS Health visited Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital Rainawari and Gousia Hospital Khanyar wherein she interacted with patients and directed the officials to provide free medicines available at these hospitals to patients.  The Minister also enquired about the status of filling of vacant paramedical posts at the hospitals. She was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Director Health and other officials.
