Sukhbir Singh Badal lays foundation to upgrade Bhogpur Sugar Mill

Rs. 102 crore project to enhance three times capacity for sugarcane crushing

Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal today laid the foundation stone for up gradation of Bhogpur Sugar Mill with Rs. 102.5 crore , which would make the mill a self dependent unit. Besides enhancing the sugarcane crushing capacity upto three times, the project would also produce 15 MW electricity from raw material. Today addressing the farmers after the foundation stone ceremony, Deputy Chief Minister said that “it was the dire need of the farming community from the areas to enhance the capacity as the Mill had the crushing capacity of 10 thousand quintals against the production of 75 lakh quintals. Deputy Chief Minister said that with the completion of this project the mill would be able to crush 30 thousand quintals sugarcane in a season.Terming the project at par with international standards, Mr. Badal said that the mill would also produce 15 MW electricity, out of which 6 MW would be used to run the mill, while 9 MW electricity would be supplied to the near grids for domestic use.Prominent  amongst present on the occasion included cabinet Minister Ajit Singh Kohar, MLA Bibi Jagir Kaur, MLA Pawan Kumar Tinnu, Deputy Commissioner  Kamal Kishor Yadav.
