“The aspect of teacher training assumes greater significance to bring teachers in tune with the changing times besides achieving the goals of quality education. The Education Department has taken upon itself to focus entirely on this aspect.” These views were expressed by the Education Minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema here at Regional Institute of Co-operative Management (R.I.C.M.) in sector-32 while addressing the Divisional and District Education Officers along with D.I.E.T. and Principals of Government- In-Centers during a one day workshop the prime purpose behind which was to educate all Education Officers and Principals about the Financial Management as well as teachers training.Dr. Cheema further said that the teacher training curriculum was re-designed after evaluating the teachers showing poor results. He said that the teacher training is absolutely necessary right from new recruitments to retirement. He further said that after training, the teachers performance must be evaluated and feedback sent to the head office. He batted for training programme to be effectively implemented.

The Education Minister also said that all Education Officers must effectively understand and implement the aspect of financial management. He divulged that often the shortcomings at the district level result in the harassment being faced by the employees as well as its negative bearing on the functioning of the department. He informed that the new initiative would result in the lessening number of court cases. He instructed to effectively check the menace of copying in the coming exam season. On the issue of some teachers using the sad incident of demise of teachers in the mishap at Fazilka to press for their transfers, Dr. Cheema said that such incidents of indiscipline should be dealt at the lower level itself and strong action taken.On the occasion, DPI (Secondary Education) Balbir Singh Dhol, Director SCERT Sukhdev Singh Kahlon and Deputy Director Dr. Ginni Duggal also addressed the teachers. On the occasion, the subject experts shared important points regarding teacher training and the financial officers provided guidance about financial management.
