Being on week wicket, Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh continues to be on poaching spree to strengthen and enhance his poll prospects which seems totally bleak at this juncture.Stating this here today, Punjab minister Daljeet Singh Cheema said that apprehending that the elected members may desert him after the polls, Amarinder is trying to field his henchmen as party nominees especially his recent pick-ups from other parties notwithstanding resistance from old guards in the party.Cheema said that Amarinder is under a serious illusion that those denied SAD nomination or rejects of the party would bring laurels to the Congress forgetting that if they were strong enough, their parent party would not have thrown them out or treated them like deadwoods.Interestingly, many seasoned Congressmen took no time to understand this crude ground reality and are opposing the nomination of such turncoats like Pargat Singh , Swarn Singh Phillaur or Inderbir Singh Bularia and even Navjot Kaur ,who is now more of liability though once was considered asset.Since Amarinder is insisting that the turncoats be accommodated as these had been lured by him but the party leaders are opposed to it, hence there is deadlock and inordinate delay in releasing the list of party nominees, said Cheema adding that Amarinder is well aware that more than three fourth of his catch would disappear once they are denied tickets. And they may not support him in race for the top slot in the party, he added.“If these turn coats deserted their parent party which had nourished them for years within hours of denial of ticket, how they remain in an outfit when substantive political promise of party nomination is denied to them”, argued Cheema adding that these chameleons would change their colours at the first  available opportunity. He said that Amarinder is unable to contain his herd, how can he master his recent catches from other parties.
