Dismissing the reports of any bickering and dissension amongst party workers and leaders in wake of swapping of candidates from one seat to another, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today categorically said that not only the Akali Dal but the SAD-BJP alliance was absolutely united and stood like a rock to rout both Congress and AAP from electoral scene. Addressing the media persons on the sidelines of Sangat Darshan program in Bassi Pathana assembly segment here today, the Chief Minister said that such reports were blown out of proportion by the opposition to destabilize the alliance. He said that the party was fully united to give a crushing defeat to both Congress and AAP in the ensuing polls.Asked to comment on alleged understanding between SAD and Congress, the Chief Minister ruled out any such possibility and termed such reports as totally baseless, erroneous and politically motivated. He said that it was even unimaginable and unethical to have such understanding as both Akali Dal and Congress were poles apart ideologically. Mr. Badal said that Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) had been vehemently opposing the Congress party which attacked Sri Harmandir Sahib, perpetrated the carnage of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and for doing grave injustice to the state by depriving us of our Capital, river waters and even Punjabi speaking areas from day one. He asked, “As fire and water cannot co-exist how come Congress and Akalis can?”

On another query regarding statewide agitation by EGS volunteers, the Chief Minister said that he would ever welcome any initiative to have direct dialogue with any one aggrieved  across the table to sort out such issues amicably. He appealed these teachers to shun the path of agitation path at behest of opposition and reiterated that his doors were ever open to resolve any such matter with positive approach. The Chief Minister firmly resolved that Punjab neither has spare water to share with anyone, nor any need for the construction of Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) canal and nobody would be allowed to construct this canal in future. Mr. Badal unequivocally stated that Punjab doesn’t have spare water to share with anyone and not a single drop of water would be allowed to flow out of the state.Making a frontal attack on the Congress leadership for betraying Punjab and Punjabis just to satiate their lust for power,  Mr. Badal rebuked Amarinder Singh for trying to become a martyr by smearing blood on his little finger and showing lip sympathy with the people on the SYL issue and described him as the prime conspirator along with the then Congress high Command and Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi, who performed the ground breaking ceremony of SYL at village Kapoori in Punjab way back in 1982.  On the contrary, he said that the Akali Dal from day one opposed the construction of SYL by launching state wide morchas.

Reminding the people about the notorious past of Congress party, the Chief Minister said that Congress has irrelevantly meddled in the political, economic and even religious affairs of the state. He further bemoaned that the progress and prosperity of state took a back seat due to regressive policies of the successive Congress governments at the Centre.Daring PPCC Chief Captain Amarinder Singh to list even a single achievement to his credit during his previous regime, the Chief Minister said that now in false hope of forming the government again in the state Captain was promising moon to everyone. However, he said that the wise people of Punjab would not get swayed by tantrums of Amarinder Singh as they were well aware of his dubious credentials.Addressing the public gatherings during Sangat Darshan in Bassi Pathana and Chunni Kalan, the Chief Minister, while highlighting the significance of Sangat Darshan program, said that it virtually brought the government at the doorsteps of the people. He said that this flagship program of SAD-BJP alliance government was beneficial not only in redressing the problems of people but also judging the performance of officers/ officials.
