Seminar on Wetland & Migratory Birds held at Hokerser

Army Camp Zainakot in collaboration with Dept of Wildlife Protection, J&K today conducted a seminar on 'Preservation of Wetland and Migratory Birds'.  The seminar was organised to spread awareness about the asset that is Hokersar Wildlife Reserve and to discourage poaching of birds in the wetland. Mr Rauf Zargar, Warden, Wildlife Dept, Hokersar educated the gathering on the topic "Livelihood from Wetland".  Mr Khurshid Ahmed, Asst Prof & Scientist-In-Charge, Centre for Mountain Wildlife Sciences, SKAUST threw light on the phenomenon of migration and Mr Adil Habib, M Phil from Kashmir University on different species of migratory birds.

The Chief Guest on the occasion, Brig SH Naqvi, Commander of Hyderbegh RR Sector delivered the closing address.  He appreciated the role played by Zainakote Camp in taking up such a noble cause including the Anti Poaching Campaign conducted in the previous few days around Hokersar.  He exhorted the local people to play an active role in preservation of the Wetland and prevention of poaching of the beautiful migratory  birds coming from far away lands.Also present on the occasion were dignitaries from civil administration & Police and heads of educational institutions.  A crowd of almost 200 of mostly young children from nearby Schools turned up for the event.
