Parents who have enrolled their wards in private schools on Tuesday stage protest against the private educational institutes for compelling them to deposit the fee of unrest months. The parents assembled here at Srinagar’s press enclave under the banner of Kashmir Civil Society School Accountability (KCSSA) and Kashmir Private School Parents Association (KPSPA) and chanted slogans against the private institutes. They were demanding waiver of the fee of unrest months. The protesters told KNS that the private educational institutes are compelling them to deposit the fee of unrest months despite the fact that schools remained shut since July 8 of this year.“It is unfortunate that the private schools are minting money from us. School authorities must waive off the fees of unrest months,” they said. They said that they have empty pockets and don’t have even money to purchase books for their wards. “In such circumstances, how is it possible to deposit the fees for which the school administration is compelling us,” they rued. They said that the authorities are giving lame excuses over the issue thereby leaving the thousands of parents to lurch at large. “Besides, the school authorities are compelling us to deposit other dues like transport charges as well,” they said. The protesters later sought government intervention in this regard. “Government must intervene into the matter and should direct the private school authorities to stop compelling the parents to deposit fees,” protesting parents demanded.
