Kavinder Gupta declares open declamation contest for Silver Rolling Trophy

Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today declared open the 7th Annual Inter-State (Northern Zone) Declamation Contest on the topic “Is Practice of Liberal Values the only way to End the Politics of Hate and Harm” for the Silver Rolling Trophy being organized by the Department of Higher Education, J&K at the Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar.This trophy has been instituted by the Governor, Mr N N Vohra.Addressing the gathering, the Speaker said we need to incorporate the positive changes in our socio-political fabric and work hand in hand towards a system which envisages equal growth opportunities for all in a peaceful environment.“When we talk about liberalization, it's not just the liberalization of economy but the liberalization that evolves us as true human beings conscious and respectful of others thereby leading to removal of environment that creates distrust and harmony”, he added.

Kavinder said the topic for this Declamation “Is Practice of Liberal Values the only way to End the Politics of Hate and Harm” is a relevant one.  It is important to reflect on this for isolating the elements that try to weaken the nation from within.The Speaker reiterated that education is the only medium to truly imbibe in people a value system that creates in people respect for others, unity and a cordial harmonious cultural environment.The Speaker also invited the students to come and be part of assembly proceedings during the upcoming session, and get to know how the legislature functions, understand politics and emerge as leaders of tomorrow.Commissioner Secretary Higher Education Department Asgar Hassan Samoon, Director Colleges Renu Goswami, SDM South Sonu Pargal, Principal GCW Gandhi Nagar Dr Kiran Bakshi faculty and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
