Kavinder Gupta for educating youth about India’s unsung heroes

Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, today said there is a need to educate youngsters about the country, especially about the sacrifices of India's lesser-known freedom fighters, social activists and other contributors who helped shape the nation.Kavinder Gupta said this while addressing a gathering at the annual day celebration of Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar.Also present for the occasion were Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Chaudhary, MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta, MLA R.S. Pura Dr Gagan Bhagat and other dignitaries.While addressing the gathering, the Speaker said that besides the great leaders who fought for India's freedom, there are many more people who need to be spoken about.

“Many people fought to free India from the shackles that hindered the growth and development of India as a nation. These peoples’ contributions helped shape India into a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic, republic with justice, liberty and equality as its basic foundations,” the Speaker said adding that we need to educate the new generation about those who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the nation, but do not find a place in history books.Highlighting the importance of education, the Speaker said that education helps develop in children a strong reasoning ability that helps them question the illogical suppositions and forgoing baseless superstitions, besides exposure to the world.

The Speaker congratulated the students for their socially relevant colorful cultural performances and urged them to come forward and become active participants in nation building.Sham Lal Chaudhary, while speaking on the occasion, said that the youth are the future of the nation and it is very important to ensure their all round development. He further said that focused attention needs to be paid so that they can grow as good citizens.Later, the Speaker along with other dignitaries distributed prizes among the students who excelled in academics, arts, sports and other fields.
