Hon’ble Court of Parminder Pal Singh, Additional Sessions Judge, Mohali has convicted Junior Assistant of Punjab State Ware Housing Corporation (PSWHC) in embezzlement case and sentenced to 6 years of imprisonment besides imposing Rs.60,000 fine. Disclosing this here, an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the Hon’ble court has convicted accused Subash Chander, Junior Assistant, PSWHC, Qadian, District Gurdaspur resident of Akash Avenue, Amritsar in 2005 case at Police Station, Vigilance Bureau FS-I, Punjab, Chandigarh under section 409 of IPC for 6 years imprisonment and Rs.60,000 fine and if fine is not paid then additional imprisonment extended for 9 more months. Similarly under section 13 (1) (d) 4 years imprisonment and Rs.40,000 fine and if fine not paid then 6 months additional imprisonment extended by 6 months. This case was registered since the accused had caused loss to the state exchequer amounting to Rs.1,73,81,994 by misappropriating bags full of wheat and empty bags. Similarly, in another case, Hon’ble court of Mrs. Navjot Sohal, Additional Sessions Judge, Amritsar has awarded sentence of 1 year imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.5,000 on Niranjan Singh s/o Buta Singh resident of Akalgarh Dhapaiya, district Amritsar in a bribery case.
