V.P. Singh Badnore Pays Tributes To Martyr Lt. Bikram Singh

Paying tributes to Martyr Lt. Bikram Singh on his 54th Martyrdom Day, the Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, V.P. Singh Badnore said that the nation would always remain indebted to the soldiers who laid down their lives while protecting their motherland. Expressing his views, on the solemn occasion, the Governor said that brave and patriotic soldiers seldom die, as they live in the memory of their comrades and a grateful nation always remembers them.Recalling the supreme sacrifice made by Martyr, Lt. Bikram Singh, the Governor termed his death as glorious and heroic. He said he died while defending a sensitive post bravely and tenaciously against a far superior enemy till the last drop of his blood and in the process he gave ‘His today’ for ‘our tomorrow’.Shri Badnore also expressed that Lt. Bikram Singh deserved to be decorated with Gallantary Awards such as Mahavir Chakra or Paranveer Chakra Posthumously for sacrificing his life for the nation.

Shri Badnore called upon the youth to keep them acquainted with the valiant deeds of our security forces especially protecting our boundaries and maintaining peace in the Country. They should make endeavour to inculcate the spirit of patriotism and nationalism in them, said Shri Badnore.The Governor also presented awards to the meritorious students of the Shaheed Lt. Bikram Singh Govt. Senior Secondary School Sialba, district Mohali and also honoured the students who excelled in sports and other co-curricular activities. Teachers were also awarded for the outstanding academic achievements resulting in the 100% results.The Governor also placed wreath to pay floral tributes to the Martyr Lt. Bikram Singh. Officers and Officials of Kumaon Regiment also placed wreaths to pay respects to the brave martyr.Later, the Governor also had tea with the family members of Martyr Lt Bikram Singh. Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included, Mr. D.S. Mangat Deputy Commissioner, Mr. G.P.S. Bhullar, Senior Superintendent of Police besides other administrative officers of district Mohali.
