Strongly condemning the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s remarks on Jammu Kashmir and against the pro-freedom camp, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Monday said J&K has nothing to do with India’s “Hindu Rashtra” (Hindu country) ideology.Bhagwat had on Sunday that India is “Hindu Rashtra” and “there is no place for separatism in the country”.In a statement issued to KNS, Shah said Mohan Bhagwat can say anything regarding India but “Jammu Kashmir has its own identity and has never been part of India”. He said RSS chief “should bear in mind that there is no separatism in Jammu Kashmir but a freedom movement continuing since decades”.Shah said, “Mohan Bhagwat should go through the political history of Jammu Kashmir. He should know that on October 27, 1947, India annexed this territory through military invasion and then took the issue to United Nations besides promised to give the people of this land the right to decide their future. Despite passing of 70 years, India hasn’t fulfilled its promise and the people of this State continue to offer sacrifices of their lives to liberate their nation from Indian occupation. By offering sacrifices of about 6 lakh human lives, the people of Jammu Kashmir have created a history.”

Shah also termed it “ridiculous” the RSS chief’s remark that government should deal sternly with “separatists” saying India and its local “collaborators” haven’t left any stone unturned in this regard. “The whole wordl is aware of the reign of terrorism unleashed by India and its puppets on the people of Jammu Kashmir rom last 70 years in general and last four months in particular. The eyesight of hundreds of people have been snatched by pellet guns and the occupational forces are already ruling the roost here,” he said. The DFP chairman despite blinding hundreds of our children, “some shameless people continue to beat the drums of so-called ‘vision’. “The people of Jammu Kashmir have rendered invaluable sacrifices and thousands are spending life of incarceration. We won’t let these sacrifices go waste at any cost,” he said.

Shah said if Mohan Bhagwat is “really concerned” of India and its people, he should stress on spending the country’s budget on people’s welfare rather on defence procurement which fulfill India’s dream of becoming a ‘big nation’. “But the prevailing atmosphere in India will not only lead the country to economic disaster but also incriminate India for destabilizing peace in South Asia,” he said. The pro-freedom leader said Kashmiris don’t harbour any enmity with the people of India but “our hospitality is known the word over”. “It is not hidden from anyone as to how Kashmiris treat Amarnath Yatris and other tourists,” he said.Shabir Ahmad Shah said RSS chief must stop “intimidating” Kashmiris and “bear in mind that we are not scared of dying or being jailed but such provocative remarks will only strengthen our resolve to fight for the freedom of our nation”.
