Terming the demonetization move of Narendra Modi led government as anti-poor, senior leader of Communist Party of India (Marxist) and legislator from Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami Monday said that in the garb of corruption, black money, terrorism and demonetization, Modi government wants to hide its failures.“Instead of demonetization Rs 500 and 1000 currency notes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi should take action against Swiss bank account holders and stop troubling honest people. He claimed that in 2011, the Centre had a list of people with Swiss Bank accounts and said the Prime Minister should take action against them who according to a national Daily have amassed Rs 92.95 Billion,” Tarigami said.In a statement to CNS, Tarigami alleged that the move will burden ordinary people—such as daily wage labourers, small businesses, traders and vendors selling at the door step-and increase bureaucratic harassment of these people.

“The demonetization move in 1978 failed to recover the Black Money and contrary people started hoarding black money in abundance. During election time, Modi had promised that he will expose those who have illegal Swiss Bank accounts but instead of doing that he has pursued an anti-people policy. His demonetization move has been affecting only poor section of society,” he said.“Economic emergency like situations have been created by the government to hide their inefficiency. Poor people, middle class citizens, small businesses and farmers have been hit the most and not the people who have black money,” he said adding that no action is being initiated against the Corporate Houses and Industrialists who have hoarded black money in illegal accounts. “The government has spread anarchy in entire country; common man is not even able to buy daily products. BJP promised to bring back black money in their election campaigns, but after public pressure they banned Rs500 and 1000 notes,” he said. (CNS)
