The highest form of charity is organ donation with which we can save a number of lives of those who are waiting for organ replacement. All religions preach that we can serve god best when we serve the people. Advocating for the organ replacement as a social cause instead of profit based, the Governor of Punjab Mr VP Singh Badnore said here today while attending the annual function of Gift of Life Organ Donation Awareness Society (GLODAS), here today, said that he was feeling delighted to be the part of this campaign for noble cause to help the ailing community.There is a huge gap between demand and supply of organs because 3-4 lakh people suffered from organ failure and need promptly organ transplantation but only less than 10000 are luckier enough to get transplanted done in time, he added. Adding that one brain dead person can save eight lives and the patients able to get some more years.Appreciating 'GLODAS' and Dr Baldev Singh Aulakh for their efforts, not for profit but to save humankind, he added that the society has set up a exemplary task of motivating people and creating a wave of awareness in society. Many budding scientists, doctors, teachers, engineers, layers, artists may be waiting for organs, to make a phenomenal contribution to the growth and progress of the society. Stressing upon the need to join hands and educate the society regarding the increasing requirement of organ donation.

While speaking at another function organised by the Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust, that was founded by Late Shri Sat Paul Mittal in association with Late Shri Joginder Pall Panday to propagate the ideologies of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in the year 1983. The Hon'ble Governor said that he is happy to know that the Trust has been actively providing help to the poor and weaker sections of the society irrespective of caste, creed and religion. He also appreciated the trust's endeavour of providing scholarship & awards to help the poor and deserving students for completing their education. Today, Nehru Scholarship was given to 1123 students across 69 schools studying in primary/middle/high/secondary classes and an amount of Rs. 25,20,800/- has been disbursed during the year 2016. Some prominent personalities working in various fields were also honoured on the occasion. These include Mr Avdhash Kaushal from Dehradun, Mrs Suhasini Mistry, Mr V Muralidharan, Mr Shyam Sunder Paliwal, Mr S Vidyaakar. Khalsa College for Women also received Nehru Trophy for the 21st Inter College Debate organised by the trust. Former Lt Governor of Delhi Mr Tejendra Khanna and President of the trust Mr Rakesh Bharti Mittal also addressed the gathering.Mr VP Singh Badnore also visited Sat Paul Mittal School premises, here.
