10th CRM team visits Anantnag

Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah today met the eight-member team of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The team is in Anantnag for last 4 days as part of the 10th CRM (Common Review Mission) to review the performance of NRHM and assess the healthcare infrastructure and services in the district.The meeting-cum-interaction was attended by Deputy Director, Directorate of Health, Kashmir; Divisional Nodal Officer, NRHM, CMO, Medical Superintendents and BMOs of the hospitals across the district.During the past 4 days, the team visited the Government District Hospital, Childcare and Maternity Hospital, Sub-District Hospitals of Dooru, Shangus and Bijbehara, PHCs and sub-PHCs of the district.During the interaction, the team shared the experience of the last 4 days and unanimously expressed their satisfaction over the healthcare paraphernalia and the services available in the hospitals across the swathe of the district. They applauded the services put in place by the Health Department, particularly in mobilising the human resources. The team appreciated the performance of the NRHM, in general, and ASHA workers and other grass-root level associates of the healthcare, in particular.

Certain areas were flagged during the interaction which need further improvement like enhancing the capacity-building among the staff, dissemination of information regarding the schemes and disease prevention, elaborate training-cum-augmentation mechanism for the staff, renovation of the hospital buildings affected by 2014 floods, augmentation of the fire-fighting mechanisms in some hospitals, renovation of the District Tuberculosis Hospital and need for biomedical waste management facilities in the district.The Deputy Commissioner took note of the areas highlighted by the team and assured them that their recommendations would be duly taken care of. He said that governance and transparency is the lodestar of the administration and the interaction with the team would serve as a mirror-showing experience.Regarding the renovation of the hospital buildings, DC informed that under the Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Programme and PRAGATI, the renovation and face-lifting of the buildings affected by 2014 floods shall be carried out soon. He said that fire safety audit shall be conducted in those hospital buildings which have not yet been audited.
