Soldier killed in Pak sniper fire at Machil

An army soldier was killed in a Pakistan sniper firing along LoC in Machil sector of Kupwara district, army said Wednesday.An army official said at around 2:30 pm, Pakistani troopers targeted Bajarwali post at Machil and shot at a soldier namely Satram Singh, who was immediately air-lifted to 92 Base Hospital at BB Cantonment in Srinagar, where he succumbed.The slain army man belongs to 17 Sikh Regiment. The army official said that Pakistani troopers “violated the ceasefire first” and “it was as such retaliated by Indian army”. According to sources, both the armies were trading gunfire intermittently till late in the evening. (GNS)
