Zayed University students gear up for Challenge 22

Challenge 22 targets Zayed University’s brightest minds for beyond innovative ideas

Zayed University students can have a golden opportunity to showcase their innovative ideas in front of an audience of billions at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and beyond. The announcement came during an information session held today (Wednesday) at Zayed University in Dubai campus in the presence of Professor Reyadh AlMehaideb, Vice President of Zayed University, and the Challenge 22 team led by Abdulaziz Al Mawlawi, Technical Manager, Competition Venuses atSupreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy. Initiated by the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, Challenge 22 is an innovation awardthat aims to promote a culture of innovation in the Arab region and attract innovators, entrepreneurs, scientists, and pioneers of the Arab world to highlight their ideas that would contribute towards hosting and organizing major events and building a sustainable future for Arab societies. Professor AlMehaideb said: “Zayed University is pleased to participate in one of the greatest challenges across the GCC countries, which proved to the world their capability of reaching the limits of the sky through generating healthy and successful project activitiessuch as, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022and the Expo 2020 Dubai, and building a prosperous future through the power of youth.

” “Zayed University has always been committed to support innovation and this commitment led effectively to the launch of a number of projects, which played a significant role in building creative and innovative minds that can adapt and face future unpredictable challenges,” Professor AlMehaideb added.He also pointed out that students from the College of Arts and Creative Enterprises and the College of Technological Innovation among many students from various disciplines will work closely for the Challenge 22. With the participation of Zayed University students, Al Mawlawi gave a presentation that provided an overview of the Challenge 22 mission, challenges, entry criteria, evaluation criteria, and incubation phase. Al Mawlawi, Representative of the SC, said: “Challenge 22 is a platform for innovation that gives participants a chance to be part of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. In the United Arab Emirates enthusiasm and eagerness were remarkable and we can’t wait to see the ideas that talented innovators have to offer.” “With the support and collaborative efforts of Zayed University we were able to reach out and into the community so that they are aware that there is an opportunity for them to turn their ideas into reality and shape the future of their own communities and the whole region,” Al Mawlawi added. Individuals and group of up to four with the most innovative ideas will win prizes of USD 15,000 and receive mentoring from leading scientists and researchers in the region.
