The Punjab NRI affairs Minister Jathedar Tota Singh Inaugurated the new court room of the NRI Commission at Block-A, Punjab Civil Secretariat-2, Sector-9, Chandigarh.Jathedar Tota Singh said that the state Government is committed to its resolve to solve all the issue pertaining to Non Resident Indians (NRIs) in stipulated time frame. He said that the Punjab is the only state in India where NRI Commission has been constituted to solve the problems of Punjabi Diaspora. He said that the NRI commission till date has received 1324 complaints out of which1125 have already been disposed off.Divulging the procedure of processing of complaint he said that after the receipt of a complaint it is sent to the Police or Revenue department for inquiry and if need be the record is summoned before the commission from these department. He said that after the inquiry is completed the commission takes action without any delay. Jathedar Tota Singh said that the State Government constituted Punjab NRI Commission on November 29, 2011, under Punjab State Commission for NRIs ACT-2011. He said that the Commission mandated to handle issues of NRIs pertaining to Property, Financial Transaction and Matrimonial Disputes. He said that an inquiry wing of NRIs commission is operational under a police officer of IG rank at SAS Nagar, Mohali.Prominent amongst others present during this occasion Justice (Retd.) Rakesh Kumar Garg, Chairman, NRI Commission, Mr. Anil Kumar Sharma, IPS (Retd.), member, Mr. Karan Singh Ghuman, honorary member, Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Principle Secretary, Mr. C. Siban, Secretary of NRI affairs department.
