Polling is over in Himachal.. 46 more days to wait for results

Voting is around 72 % exact figure is awaited

It was   per cent of polling for 2012 Elections in the 68 assembly constituencies in Himachal Pradesh, which concluded at 5PM on Sunday the 4 th November . The polling stared on  a sluggishnot on the suny cool weather in the state., the state saw over 60 per cent voting by 3 pm today. The polling was highest of 74.51 %, in 2003 elections when Vir Bhadra Singh overtook the Power from Dhumal . In last elections of 2007 it was 71.61, followed by 71.23 in 1998 and 71.06 in 1982. It was lowest in 51.22 in 1967 when public when to poll the newly formed state of Himachal Pradesh .The future of the 459 power asparent politicians will remain closed in EVM Machienes for the next 46 days till the counting of the votes on 20 thDecember . Himachal Pradesh has never repeated a government since 1977, but in this years elections , the BJP, led by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, is hoping for a historic second term, the Congress is looking to its tallest leader in the state, Virbhadra Singh, for a comeback to lead the state for the sixth time . The crucial anti-incumbency factor seems to have been overridden this time by the twin issues of price rise and corruption this time around. political Pandits say that  fight is direct  between the BJP and the Congress, both of who are contesting all 68 seats, where as  Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has fielded 66 candidates followed by Himachal Lokhit Party with 36 ,Trinamool Congress 25 , Samajwadi Party 16, Communist Party of India-Marxist (15), Nationalist Congress Party and Swabhiman Party (12 each), Communist Party of India (7), Shiv Sena (4) and 105 Independents.  In all, 459 candidates are in the fray .
