The Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s protest at New Delhi following sad demise of veteran soldier Ram Kishan Grewal was understandable but demonstration of such anger in company of persons like Sajjan Kumar who had instigated mobs to kill thousands of people in 1984 was most “abhorrent and detestable”.In a statement issued here today, Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee General Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that one hoped that the Congress top brass would distance  itself from such “killers” after their involvement was  proved but it continued to warm up to such notorious and criminal elements. Sirsa was commenting on the news reports that those accompanied Rahul during protest included Sajjan Kumar.Sirsa said that he individually and on behalf of DSGMC offer heart- felt condolences to the bereaved family saying that his hearts goes to them. But Rahul visiting the family in company of killers of the Sikhs amounted to rubbing slat on the wounds of the community.   “Our blood boils as we hapless have not got justice yet”, he bemoaned adding that Rahul and Sajjan on the same page would trigger anger amongst Sikhs against Congress.

Hitting out at Congress leadership, Sirsa said that the party had politicized the tragedy of a veteran’s death to derive political mileage.  Rahul’s theatric performance in questioning the police would have some credibility or weight if the Congress leadership had questioned the then police top officers for their total failure in protecting lives of Punjabis especially the Sikhs in 1984.“Rahul's demand that government must apologize to the kin of veteran Grewal would appear more just  if the Congress leaders offer apology albeit after 32 years for their sin of killing thousands of Sikhs”, said Sirsa. The Akali leader said that instead of seeking justice for victims of Delhi riots, Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh has shockingly already given a clean chit to former Congress minister Jagdish Tytler though cases against him are still pending in the courts.“Let Amarinder decide whether he is with the community or with its killers”, averred Sirsa adding that before soliciting support from the Sikhs in Punjab, Amarinder should take a position on the Sikhs’ genocide. Amarinder can’t silence the community under the pretext that Akalis are politicizing the issue. If not the Akalis or to the Sikh’s representative body in Delhi DSGMC, Amarinder must respond to the queries of ordinary Sikh.
