Sham Lal reviews developmental works in Rajouri

Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today chaired a meeting of all the district officers to review the pace of ongoing development works in the district.A threadbare discussion was held regarding the physical and financial achievements under various projects taken up by the government   for the welfare of the common masses and also the bottleneck faced by the departments for achieving the optimum targets.Vice Chairman Advisory Board for the development of Pahari Speaking People Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Member Legislative Assembly Rajouri Qummar Choudhary, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Shabir Ahmed Batt, Senior Superintendent of Police Atul Sharma, ADDC A S Chib, ADC Mumtaz Choudhary, Executive Engineer PHE, Executive Engineer PDD besides all other district officers were present in the meeting.The Minister took stock of the water supply position in the district and asked the concerned officer to take adequate steps to argument water supply in the areas. 

The Minister stressed upon the field function to perform their duties with dedication so as to provide people with uninterrupted water supply.He also directed the officers to conduct daily visits to water treatment plants and monitor the situation regarding capacity and treatment procedures so that the households get 24 hours clean water supply.The Minister was informed in the meeting that out of various ongoing schemes in the district, six schemes are likely to be completed very soon. Apprising the Minister regarding the financial achievement of the schemes, Executive Engineers PHE said that out of an outlay of Rs 359 lakh, Rs 269 lakh have been released and out of which 61.76 lakh have been utilized till date.The issue of casual/need based workers was also discussed in the meeting. 

The Minister said that the government is aware about the problems of these need based labour and are working on a strategy to provide them wages on regular basis.He instructed the officers to educate the masses about the state and centrally sponsored schemes being implemented by the government for the welfare of farmers and people living in rural areas.The minister also took stock of the arrangement put in place by the district administration for the people of border villages who have been evicted from their native villages in wake of escalating ceasefire violations on the line of control.Deputy Commissioner Rajouri while apprising the Minister said that all the necessary arrangements have been put in place to provide basic facilities to these people in relief camps. The Minister instructed district administration to put in best efforts to provide people with all the facilities during this tough time.
