The family members of 13-year-old Ifrah Jan from Rohmoo in Pulwama Tuesday accused a top police officer of abusing his powers. “This police officer who always swirls pellet gun in air targets even people sitting in the houses. It was he who targeted my grand-daughter in the lawn. He has let loose a reign of terror in the area,” Abdul Aziz told news agency CNS.

“The police officer is responsible for all the pellet injuries. He showers pellets without any reason,” Aziz said.13-year-old Ifrah Jan is undergoing treatment at SMHS Hospital. She has suffered severe pellet injuries in her eyes. “The orphan Ifra who lost her father Shakoor Ahmed at tender age was present in the lawn when the police officer barged into the house and fired pellets at close range,” he said adding the police officers brutality can be gauged from this fact that even after showering pellets into her face, he held her by hair and dragged her, pulling her hair. “Is this the Justice Mehbooba Mufti is talking about. Was my 13 years old grand-daughter part of any procession or was she throwing stones on police,” he questioned. He said that whole population of Rohmu will tell you how this police officer intimidates locals and harass them. “Lack of accountability has emboldened that police officer. It was actually he, who even thrashed a retired police officer in the premises of his houses,” he said. (CNS)
