Terming October 27 as the “darkest day” in the history of Kashmir, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Tuesday said the people of Jammu Kashmir have never acknowledged the forcible occupation of India as on the same day India annexed the territory through its military might. In a statement issued to press, Shah said Kashmir was never part of India and that Kashmiri nation will continue its freedom struggle against the illegal and forcible rule of India till the issue is not resolved. He said the people of Jammu Kashmir have rendered invaluable sacrifices for the achievement of their birth right of self-determination for the last 70 years and are committed to pursue their mission (of freedom).Commenting on the role played by pro-India politicians against the freedom struggle of Kashmiris, Shah said these people have inflicted heavy damage to the movement and continue to play the role of collaborators of New Delhi. “These people turned the whole Valley into Karbala just for petty material gains and due to their lust for power. They have to appear before the public court and will be held answerable for their crimes against the people,” he said.He said the people are subjected to worst kind of oppression and youth are the worst sufferers. “Still we are committed on our mission of freedom and the suppressive measures cannot break our resolve,” he said.

Appealing world to take notice of the oppression inflicted by India over Kashmiris for the last 70 years, the DFP chairman said: “There is no democracy in Jammu Kashmir and it is 8 lakh occupational forces that rule the roost in the State and have made the life of people a hell. Thousands are put behind bars. But the occupational regime must bear in mind that Kashmiris will never succumb to their coercive tactics but will not rest till they achieve their goal.”Shah added: “The international community must resolve the disputed State of Jammu Kashmir the way they resolved the East Timur and South Sudan. The world must tell us why the people of Jammu Kashmir are not given the right to self-determination if the same right is guaranteed in the charter of the United Nations Security Council.”

The pro-freedom leader said the peace in the South West Asia is directly linked to the resolution of Kashmir and until this issue is not resolved the threat of peace will continue to loom over the region. “This (Kashmir) issue has also been the basis for several wars between the countries and both nations spend major portion of their budged on defence purposes instead on development purposes and eradicating poverty and other human issues. The world must take serious note of why a State continues to be colonialised even in the 21st century. The people of Jammu Kashmir are demanding their just right of self-Determination.”Meanwhile, he expressed deep grief and sorrow over the attack on police training center in Quetta, Pakistan wherein 60 people have been killed. He said Pakistan is being targeted by its enemies to disintegrate and weaken the country. He expressed solidarity with the people and government of Pakistan and victims’ families and prayed for their forbearance. (CNS)
