Lal Singh meets border firing affected people at Hiranagar

Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment Ch. Lal Singh today met the people affected by cross border firing and assessed damages to houses and other property in Bobiya and Patti Meru villages of Hiranagar sector.The Minister was accompanied by MLA Hiranagar, Kuldeep Raj, SP Khalil Poswal, ACR Kathua Jatinder Mishra, SDM Hiranagar and other concerned officers.While interacting with affected families, the Minister assured them all necessary help from the Government. He   directed civil administration and police to remain vigilant and immediately respond at times of border shelling. He also directed concerned officers to remain present in their respective jurisdictions to deal with any emergency situation and for prompt action.

SP Kathua Khalil Poswal informed the Minister that Bullet Proof vehicles have been put in place to shift the border people in case of any emergency.The villagers also informed the Minister about various local issues including construction of permanent bunkers, increase in compensation to persons killed in cross border firing, creation of a separate township for people living in border areas and macadamization of Sapalwan border road which is mainly used during evacuation.Speaking to villagers, Singh assured that their genuine issues shall be taken up with concerned quarters in the State and Central Governments. He further asked people to remain vigilant and also advised the villagers to stay indoors and at safer places during cross border shelling.
