Accusing authorities of selective eviction drive in Jammu, scores of Gujjar and Barkarwal Saturday staged protest demonstrations at Press Enclave here.Protestors, who assembled under the banner of J&K Gujjar Bakerwal Community (JKGBC), alleged that authorities in Jammu are evicting Muslims from the land claiming it to be of forest land.“The kothas belonging to Muslims are dismantled while those belonging to Hindus remain untouched,” they said.They alleged that present regime has declared war against Muslims in Jammu.President JKGBC, Mohammad Yasin said, “The ministers have built big shopping malls at forest lands in Samba. No action has been taken against them. The poor families are harassed and rendered homeless by the authorities.”While threatening to intensify their agitation in case government continues to harass them, he said, “If present government will not stop this oppressive means, we will hold Valley wide protest.” (KNS)
