Ahbaab Singh Grewal, General Secretary, Aam Aadmi Party Kisan and Labour Wing and Ludhiana West MLA Candidate came down heavily on the Punjab Govt.’s flawed Excise Policy 2016-17 for causing a huge loss to the State Exchequer at a time when the State is suffering from such a huge deficit.Ahbaab Singh Grewal said that “Despite being struck down by the Supreme Court and High Court the L-1A policy is being implemented to benefit a few individuals close to the ruling party. Even after the courts have declared and has termed the Govt.s policy as illegal this is causing a huge loss to the biggest revenue source of the state.”Ahbaab Singh Grewal further said that “In the last legs of its tenure, the SAD/BJP Govt is showing their sheer greed for money to protect their vested interests. Where as the striking down of the L-1A system should have made way for a transparent and time tested system of the manufacturer directly supplying liquor to the wholesaler, instead the ruling politicians have restricted the supply of liquor to the wholesaler, stubbornly not supplying any material to the vendors to force them to buy liquor from a few selected individuals close to the ruling party”. He also informed that the ruling SAD/BJP combine is ruining the revenue collection system and is hell bent on amassing money before being booted out of power.”
