‘Swacchta Pakhwada’ concludes in Samba

Samba administration today organised a valedictory function to mark the end of Swachhta Pakhwada-the fortnightly campaign launched in the district to spread awareness about Cleanliness and hygiene.The Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash, Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma, MLA Samba Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal, DC Samba Sheetal Nanda, SSP Joginder Singh, ACD Tilak Raj, DPO Aijaj Qaiser and district officers   were present on the occasion.During the 15 day campaign, various activities were held in the district including awareness rallies, sensitization programmes, special Gram Sabhas, cleanliness drives at health institutions, AWCs, schools, market places and. A mobile campaign was also conducted in the district through a specially modified van which visited all the blocks and educated people on health, hygiene and sanitation. Symposiums and painting competitions were also organised in schools across the district on the theme.

Speaking on the occasion, Chander Parkash complimented the District administration and Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Department for successful conduct of the ‘Swacchta Pakhwada’ campaign. He said that maintaining cleanliness is a continuous process and should not be restricted to the campaign days only. He emphasised upon working on the ‘Clean India, Green India’ mission at multiple levels to achieve success. MP Jugal Kishore called for increasing the sanitation coverage to prevent open defecation and urged authorities to specifically focus towards making more villages Open Defecation Free.MLA Samba and DC Samba also spoke on the occasion.The winners of various competitions and stakeholders of the ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ campaign were also felicitated by the dignitaries at the function.On the occasion, various camps and exhibition stalls were installed by the departments like Social welfare, Industries, Agriculture, Handicrafts, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture and banks to educate the people about their respective schemes. A cultural programme highlighting the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ objectives was also presented.
