CM Assails Congress For Pursuing Divisive Politics

Reminds People Of Its Anti-Punjab Stance, No Reason For Congress Continuing Protest Outside His Official Residence

Assailing the Congress party for its anti-Punjab stance, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said that Congress has always pursued divisive politics for the sake of its vested political interests.Addressing the public gatherings at village Ahlupur, Sardulewal, Fatta Maleka, Kusla and others during Sangat Darshan in Sardulgarh assembly segment, the Chief Minister, while reminding the people about the notorious past of Congress, said that it has ruined the state. Badal said that Congress has irrelevantly meddled in the social, political, economic and even religious affairs of the state. He further bemoaned that the Congress has always pursued the policy of divide and rule to attain power in the state. Badal said that due to around 60 years of misrule of Congress the country was confronting several social maladies like unemployment, illiteracy, poverty and others.Terming the AAP as a ‘bunch of unprincipled leaders’, the Chief Minister said that these leaders were following the footsteps of Congress party to deprive the state of its legitimate share in river waters. Exhorting the people to teach this anti-Punjab party a lesson, he said that these forces should be routed out during the ensuing polls. 

Mr. Badal reminded the people that AAP government in Delhi has given affidavit against the interests of the state in Apex court.He said that if unholy nexus of Congress and AAP succeeds in their maneuvers then Punjab would turn into a desert.Interacting with the media persons on sidelines of Sangat Darshan at village Fatta Maleka, the Chief Minister said that he had asked the Director General of Police to enquire into the incident of clash between Congress and Akali workers in Ludhiana. He said that law would take its own course in this matter after the enquiry report was submitted by the DGP. Mr. Badal said that there was no reason for Congress continuing the protest outside his official residence after the enquiry has been ordered.On another query, the Chief Minister said that he had already ordered the cash grant for the war widows.

Refuting the charges of misappropriation of funds for procurement being leveled by the Congress party, the Chief Minister said the entire procurement operations were being conducted in a transparent manner, so there was hardly any scope of misappropriation. 

Badal said that had there been any misappropriation then the cash-credit limit would not have been issued by the Government of India.On another query, the Chief Minister said that he would soon raise the issue of inflow of contaminated water through river Ghagghar in the state from Haryana. He said that the supply of toxic water was a major concern for the region as it was creating several health hazards for the residents. Mr. Badal said that he had taken up this issue earlier in several meetings and would again flag up this issue with Haryana government.Replying to another query, the Chief Minister said that only the Union government was authorized to waive off the loans of farmers towards the banks adding that the state government has hardly any role in it. Likewise, Mr. Badal said that he had been regularly pleading for making all out efforts to make agriculture a profitable venture. He said that all the powers regarding fixing the prices of crop and agriculture inputs were vested with the union government. The Chief Minister said that on its part the state government was providing free power worth Rs 5000 crore annually to the farmers besides ensuring Health insurance and an interest free crop loan worth Rs 50000 to them.The Chief Minister was accompanied by Rajya Sabha MP Mr. Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Akali leader Mr. Dilraj Singh Bhunder, his Joint Special Principal Secretary Mr. Kumar Amit, Deputy Commissioner Mr. VK Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar.
