Punjab State Child Rights Commission Issues Directions To Check Dengue And Chikungunya

Punjab State Child Rights Commission has issued detailed guidelines to the school administrations, health and local government departments to jointly formulate an effective plan to check the spread of dengue and chikungunya especially amongst children in Punjab.This was disclosed here today by Mr. Sukesh Kalia Chairman of Punjab State Child Rights Commission while presiding over a high level meeting of the Commission.Expressing concern over the rise in cases of dengue and chikungunya across the state, Mr. Kalia said that it was unfortunate that these diseases are being caused by mosquito bites and children are becoming the easy prey. He called upon the officers of three main departments namely Health, Education and Local government to evolve an effective comprehensive joint strategy to tackle the menace.

Mr. Kalia has directed the Local government department and the Municipal Corporations/ Committees to ensure proper fogging in the residential areas as well as in all the schools so that the children could be protected from mosquito bites during the day. He has also asked the school administration to issue guidelines to the students to wear full sleeves shirts and pants so that they remain covered.He further asked the Health officials to ensure frequent fogging besides asking all the private schools of the region to buy the fogging machinery so that it could be installed within the school premises and could be used whenever it is required.Prominent amongst others who attended the meeting included Mr.Sumer Singh Gujjar, Secretary , Mr. Rajwinder Singh Gill Deputy Director, Mr. Jagmohan Singh, Mrs. Kuldeep Kaur, Mrs. Satinder Kaur Bisla, Dr. Yashpal Khanna and Mrs. Veerpal  Kaur Deol.
