The Managers Network’s Miss Punjab 2016, pageant with a purpose, has proved that this pageant does not revolve around beauty and fashion only but focuses on important concerns of a girl’s life. Breast cancer is an important concern among females these days and the awareness about such is pretty important as it is when October is celebrated worldwide as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They visited Fortis hospital, Mohali where this exclusive awareness camp was organized.Dr Atul S Joshi, Additional Director, General Surgery, Fortis Hospital Mohali, addressed the contestants on ‘Breast Cancer Awareness’. Dr Joshi delivered a talk on identifying the symptoms and need for early screening. He said, “Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women of Punjab and there is a need to identify the symptoms at the earliest. If detected in time, breast cancer is treatable. Hence, we emphasize on screening and self-examination. Those with a family history are very susceptible; hence they must get their annual checks done.” The talk was followed by a question-answer round and they got to learn many things post the talk. 

As a part of their grooming tour, the contestants were also given a chance to taste some mouth watering delicacies to know more about cuisines and flavors by dropping in to the multi cuisine restaurant, Maverick in sector 34, Chandigarh. When we talk about eating good food its equally important to inculcate a healthy lifestyle and fitness in your regime and for the same they later paid a visit to Gold’s Gym where they were also told about those important things which have to be kept in mind while exercising, what is the diet that has to be taken pre and post work out, the correct posture while exercising. When you have to hit the gym, it’s also very important to dress up appropriately which provides you comfort during the exercise. This fact made them pay their last visit for the day to the best sports brand in town that is Decathlon, Zirakpur to enjoy some sporty shopping spree for their fitness wardrobes.The final contestants have pulled up their socks to enhance their skills and boost their confidence through the grooming session organized for them. These zealous contestants are all excited and electrified to step the Grand Finale ramp on the 15th of this month.
