Ch. Zulfkar Ali calls on Puducherry CM, Food Minister

Discusses implementation of e-PDS, DBT system in UT

Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today called on Chief Minister of Puducherry Narayanasamy and Food Minister of UT Kandasamy and discussed issues with regard to implementation of Electronic Public Distribution System (e-PDS) system and Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT) mechanism in Puducherry.

Appreciating the efforts of J&K Government in streamlining Public Distribution System by adopting modern technology, the Chief Minister of Puducherry assured that Puducherry Government would extend every possible support to Jammu & Kashmir in effective implementation of Electronic Public Distribution system and Direct Beneficiary Transfer system in J&K State. He commended Chief Minister Ms. Mehbooba Mufti and Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali for adopting visionary approach in bringing accountability and transparency in the Public Distribution system.

Meanwhile, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali  also held meeting with, Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs of Union Territory M. Kandasamy and discussed in detail the successful implementation of e-PDS and DBT.Lauding the efforts of Puducherry Government for effective implementation of PDS in Union Territory, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said that the implementation of e-PDS and DBT in J&K  will benefit people  of state at large. He said that DBT is scheme in which  cash for food subsidy  is directly transferred into the bank account of beneficiaries. He said  that the system is beneficial for consumers living in inaccessible areas where government faces problem in supply and distribution of ration and will help in bringing transparency in ration distribution system.Extending gratitude to Puducherry Government for offering support in implementation of e-PDS and DBT, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said that Chief Minister Ms. Mehbooba Mufti is keen to bring tremendous changes in the PD system in J&K and the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumers Affairs is working hard to realize the dreams of Chief Minister.He said that accountability and transparency is the hallmark of government and they are committed to fulfill this agenda in near future.The Minister was accompanied by senior officers of Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumers Affairs J&K Government.
