The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, Sukhbir Singh Badal today said that the Congress party would taste crushing defeat in the 2017 assembly polls would be wiped out from the political scene. He also said that congress did nothing for the welfare of Punjab and didn’t brought even a single project to the state which should be worth remembering. Attacking congress further, the Deputy Chief Minister said that people of Punjab would not come in the sugar coated talk of Captain Amarinder Singh owing to the anti-people policies of the congress. Taking on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) S. Badal said that the leaders of this party are deliberately tarnishing the image of Punjabi’s and the people should give a befitting reply to the malicious campaign mounted by this party.

Addressing huge public rallies after laying the foundation stone of 2 important irrigation projects for Malwa region worth Rs. 225.29 crore, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the SAD-BJP Government has put Punjab on the road to development which today stands counted amongst the top notch states in terms of success on developmental and progress parameters. 

He further stated that all the welfare oriented schemes such as Shagan Scheme, Pension Scheme, Atta-Dal scheme, Free bicycles to school girls, Free health insurance scheme, Free power to farmers, Free power worth 200 units to SC-BC households, Distribution of sewing machines to women, Sports kits to youth, Commencement of sewa kendars, Establishng of skill centers, 2000 Free medicine centers, Mukh Mantri Tirath Darshan Yatra, Constructing memorials, New loan law for farmers under which interest more than principal amount cannot be levied, Interest free loan worth Rs. 50000 to the farmers through co-operative banks, Disbursal of gyms, Dharamshalas in villages, Power surplus status of Punjab and excellent road network are the crowning glories of the SAD-BJP government.Earlier, the Union Food Processing Industries Minister Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Deputy Chief Minister S. Sukhbir Singh Badal laid the foundation stones of lining of canal watercourses of ghaggar branch at a cost of Rs. 209.09 crore at village Bakshiwala and reconstruction of 13 KM of bhikhi distributary at a cost of Rs. 16.20 crore. The Union Minister while addressing the gathering said that with the initiation of these projects 147 villages of Budhlada and Sardulgarh constituencies would be immensely benefitted and the farmers of Malwa belt would also undergo a sea change. She also said that it was the long pending demand of the farming community of these constituencies for the lining of watercourses which was fulfilled in 2 years span as per the promise made during Lok Sabha elections. She specially thanked the Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti for extending a great deal of co-operation regarding these projects. 

Divulging more, the Union Minister said that since assuming office the Union Government headed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given prestigious and grand projects to Punjab such as IIM, AIIMS and heritage city status to Amritsar. She further elaborated that Punjab was ignored during the UPA regime despite 5-6 ministers from the state being in the cabinet. She specially mentioned that the green signal to Delhi-Amritsar expressway would write a new chapter of development in the history of Punjab.Strongly castigating PPCC President Captain Amarinder Singh for sharing through social media the photographs of border villages near barbed wire fence during his visit and making public the video of parliament house by an AAP MP, Mrs. Badal said that the congress and AAP should desist from jeopardizing the security of the country for political gains. She said that these leaders are letting out secrets of national security through videos and photographs which is condemnable. She appealed to the people to hand out a crushing defeat to anti-national parties in the coming assembly polls in the state and give another chance to the SAD-BJP alliance so as to write new success stories for Punjab everyday.On the occasion, Rajya Sabha MP S. Balwinder Singh Bhunder thanked S. Sukhbir Singh Badal and Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal for making a yeoman’s contribution to the development of malwa region. He also said that earlier Mansa was counted amongst the backward regions of Punjab but the rapid developmental drive has made it stand among the most progressive areas of the state.
