Rs 90 lakh released to DDCs for Muharram arrangements

Following the instructions of the Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti, the Planning, Development & Monitoring Department (PD&MD) Friday released an amount of Rs 90 lakh in favour of District Development Commissioners Srinagar, Budgam, Baramulla, Bandipora, Jammu and Poonch for making all necessary arrangements for smooth conduct of Muharram Processions/ Majalis. Each district will receive an amount of Rs 15 lakh for the purpose. Pertinently, the Chief Minister had, on 27th September, in a meeting reviewed arrangements for Muharram and instructed to ensure availability and provision of essential supplies including power, water, healthcare, ration and fuel to the people during Muharram days.In the meeting, the Chief Minister had also instructed making street lights functional in all areas where Muharram processions/Majalis are conducted.
