Condemning the arrest of Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) chief Syeda Aasiya Andrabi, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Wednesday said the suppressive measures, killings, and arrests won’t break our resolve to fight for rights. In a statement issued to KNS, DFP secretary general Moulana Abdullah Tari while hailing the pro-freedom and pro-Islam spirit of Syeda Aasiya Andrabi said she has rendered immense contribution towards freedom movement. “Mohtarma Aasiya Andrabi is a role model for the women of Jammu Kashmir,” he said.Moulana termed it “autocratic” the revengeful tactics adopted by the state administration against the resistance leadership, political activists, Islamic clerics, youth, businessmen, students, and employees. “Arrest spree has increased manifold and youth are sent to outside J&K jails after being booked under draconian laws. We hope people will not lose patience and continue the freedom struggle,” he said.

Citing the example of 19-year-old Arif Rasheed Shah of Achhabal, Moulana Tari said the way the youth are kept behind bars, it would be no wrong to say that the rulers of this land are bereft of any conscience and morality. “These power-hungry rulers are unleashing a reign of terror on people irrespective of the age and gender,” he said.Welcoming the concern expressed by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, over the situation in Jammu Kashmir, the DFP secretary general expressed hope that the world institution will take first-hand account of the Kashmir situation and suggests ways to resolve this longstanding and vexed dispute.Hailing the pro-freedom spirit of people, Moulana Abdullah Tari reiterated his appeal to masses to follow the protest programme issued by the joint resistance leadership in letter and spirit. “How can we forget the martyrdom of more than 100 people during this anti-India uprising; we have to share our responsibilities towards the movement,” he said.“We must also make our personal arrangement during the deal time and shouldn’t unnecessarily take out cars. We are also thankful to the business fraternity for their support,” Moulana added. (KNS)
