MLA Rajouri launches cleanliness, awareness drive

To commemorate Gandhi Jayanti and 2nd anniversary of the launch of Swachh Bharat Mission  a two week long cleanliness drive was launched by Rural development department  here today from Dak Bungalow.Member Legislative Assembly Ch Qammer Hussain and Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Shabir Ahmed Batt flagged off the drive.The motive of week long drive is to aware the general masses about the importance of maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings.The drive is being vigorously taken up  in  each ward in  Rajouri municipal  limits  as well in  each  panchayat and village of the district.  On the occasion an awareness van was also flagged off which will reach   rural areas to create mass awareness regarding the mission.Speaking on the occasion Member Legislative Assembly Choudhary Qammer Hussain exhorted upon the people to maintain cleanliness   and said that it is the collective responsibility of the society to make Swacch Bharat mission successful.He appealed the people to actively participation in the implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission. 

He also urged them to devote at least 100 hours in a year for achieving the goal of ‘’Clean India Mission’.‘’It was the dream of Mahatma Gandhi  to see India a clean nation and now our Prime Minister took the initiative of making the Swachh Bharat Mission a mass movement’’, he said adding that it is now every individual’s responsibility  to carry forward  the mission.In his address, District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed Batt said that Swachh Bharat Mission needs to be implemented on mission mode to bring about a perceptible change. He  also directed  District  Panchayat officer Poonch  to make the general public aware  at Panchayat level  and  organize  such programmes  at  micro level.Deputy Commissioner appealed the people to avoid use of polythene bags and throw garbage in dustbins in their areas for maintaining hygienic surroundings. He also asked them to aware others and involve them in the drive for making   the Clean India Mission successful.Additional District development Commissioner Rajouri Avtar Singh Chib, Assistant Commissioner Development Noor Alam District Panchayat Officer Yar Ali khan Besides other district officers and a large number of people were present on the occasion.
