Strongly condemning the incident of the sacrilege of  “Gutka Sahib” (A copy of Guru Granth Sahib) at Jalandhar today, State Convener of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Gurpreet Singh Waraich (Ghuggi) today said that it indicates towards the deep-rooted conspiracy to disturb the peace of Punjab. “It is highly deplorable, condemnable and unfortunate that some of the persons have gone religiously bankrupt and did such a heinous crime of sacrilege, which is beyond pardonable”, Waraich said adding that it is the responsibly of the state government to nab such persons and expose them before the public. In another case of sacrilege incident some torn pages of a ’gutka’ (a copy of holy book), were found in Adampur today. Local residents noticed the pages lying near the bank of canal and informed the police.Earlier, more than 200 torn pages of a ‘bir’ of Guru Granth Sahib were recovered from the Bist Doab sub-canal, three mutilated copies of Sikh holy books were found nearby last week and Sikhs bodies kept the road blocked for two days after the incident. This is not the first time, when such sacrilege have taken place as few months back there were series of such incidents reported from different cities in Punjab, Waraich said, adding that have state government been serious to solve these cases and nab the culprits in earlier cases, nobody could have dared to conduct such a condemnable act again.

Where are the culprits of the desecration of Guru Granth Sahib at Bargari? Waraich quipped, adding that if they would have been arrested and given an exemplary punishment, nobody could have dared to get involved in such an act. It is duty of the state government and management of Gurudwaras to provide adequate security to Guru Granth Sahib, so that such an incident does not get repeated, he added. Not only sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib, but shameful act of desecration of holy books of other religious granths including Quran-e-sharif and Bhagwat Gita were also reported in Punjab, Waraich added. “We appeal to state government to take serious note of such incidents and nab the desperados well before they may achieve their target to disturb the hard earned peace of Punjab”, AAP Convener said.
