Directs for streamlining water supply

Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today chaired a meeting to review the development works being taken up by the department in the district for the welfare of common masses.The Minister was informed in the meeting that out of various ongoing schemes in the district, eight schemes are likely to be completed very soon.The Executive Engineer, Irrigation informed the Minister that no major complaints have been registered by the department related to the supply of water for irrigation purposes. Besides, the complaints received by the department for repair and maintenance of khuls are redressed within no time.The issue of casual/need based workers of PHE department who are on strike for the last 15 days in the district was also discussed in the meeting. The Minister directed the concerned officers of the department that supply of drinking water in the district should not be affected due to the strike of the workers.

The Minister also instructed the officers to install water tankers at vital locations during Navratra festival in Katra so that the pilgrims don’t face any shortage of drinking water during the celebrations.He instructed the officers to educate the masses about the state and centrally sponsored schemes being implemented by the government for the welfare of farmers and people living in rural areas.Among others, Chief Engineer, PHE, Jammu Susheel Aima, SE Hydraulic Circle Udhampur, Executive Engineer PHE/Irrigation Udhampur attended the meeting.
