DDC reviews arrangements for conduct of Special Gram Sabhas

District Development Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda discussed the plan for holding of Special Gram Sabha’s on 2ndOctober and Swachhta Pakhwada from 1stto15th October 2016 in a meeting here today.With an objective of reduction of deprivation of poor households, special Gram Sabhas would be held across 99 panchayats of the District  where each panchayat shall discuss and deliberate upon strategies for making panchayats Open Defecation free, clean, green and poverty free. Also, sensitization of Gram Sabha regarding financial subsidies available under various central and state sponsored schemes, identification of beneficiaries under National Social Assistance Programmes and issuance of job cards to eligible job seekers shall be taken up. The participants would take pledge for ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’ campaign,100% immunization of children and their enrolment in Angwanwadi centres and 100% enrolment of women in skilling and other NRLM activities. There will also be social audit of the works executed by department of Rural Development, Irrigation & Flood control, PMGSY, Command Area, PHE, R&B, PDD and Mid-Day meal schemes.

District Administration has designated 99 Officers as the Nodal Officer for each Gram Sabha who will record the proceedings. The DC emphasised upon effective coordination between BDO’s and panchayat nodal officers for the campaign. She directed to ensure special focus on enrolment of Adhaar cards and feedback regarding implementation of govt schemes.Under Swachta Pakhwada, the administration shall organise cleanliness drives at Educational institutions, Anganwadi centres, Health institutions, water bodies and Market places. The school children shall also take a rally on ‘Clean and Green environment’ theme. Rural Development department shall be the nodal agency for the initiative.The meeting was attended by ADDC Vivek Sharma, ADC Pawan Sharma, ACD Tilak Raj and district officers from various departments.
