World class arrangements at Punjab Institute of Sports to train 5000 players

The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, S. Sukhbir Singh Badal today disclosed that world class arrangements have been put in place at the Punjab Institute of Sports (PIS) in order to train budding players of the state from young age which would make Punjab the sports powerhouse of the country. He also revealed that an agreement has also been inked a prominent university of Australia to provide training in different sports disciplines to these players in order to enable them to compete at world level.Expressing these views while gracing the occasion of Baba Fakar Dass memorial kabaddi cup at village Dhimawali as the Chief guest, the Deputy Chief Minister further informed that the state government would bear the cost of educational and training expenses of the players receiving training at Punjab Institute of Sports.He also said that the game of kabaddi has reached dazzling heights of popularity around the globe today and at the world kabaddi cup to be held in November, 2016, teams from 19 countries would compete in men’s section while the teams from 9 countries would be competing in the women’s section. He also announced that in October 2016 world kabaddi league would also commence.

Disclosing his vision for the overall development of the villages of the state, the Deputy Chief Minister said that projects worth Rs. 35000 crore have been chalked out which would be completed over a period of 5 years focusing on concretization of streets, drains, street lights and other infrastructure in all more than 12000 villages of Punjab. He also divulged that with a view to providing medical facilities to the common people the Punjab government is in the process of opening 2600 free medicine shops in the villages. He also said that Punjab is the first state where Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojna has been initiated for small traders, economically poor sections and farmers.The Deputy Chief Minister also announced Rs. 10 lakh for developing stadium at Dhimawali, Rs. 20 lakh for development projects of the village and Rs. 15 lakh for the purpose of concretizing open space at the grain market of village.On the occasion, MLAs Mantar Singh Brar and Deep Malhotra, Chairman Youth Development Board Parambans Singh Bunty Romana, Senior SAD leaders Parkash Singh Bhatti and Balkar Singh Brar, Chairman Zila Parishad Faridkot Kultar Singh Brar, Chairman Faridkot Co-operative bank Gurchet Singh Dhillon, Deputy Commissioner Malwinder Singh Jaggi, SSP Darshan Singh Mann and representatives of youth club and village panchayat were also present.
